MUSEUM SHIP WEEKEND EVENT

USS CAVALLA & USS STEWART ON THE AIR AT SEAWOLF PARK

JUNE 4th & 5th PELICAN ISLAND GALVESTON TEXAS

Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club again in the 4th year to sponsor the USS Cavalla SS 244 and USS Stewart DE 238 as a 2 for 1 ship contact status using club call KK5W. At the time of this newsletter submission we are 10 days from the event and 70 ships world wide are listed for the event that is sponsored by the Battleship USS New Jersey. The ships listed also show other members of our Texas Museum Ship Navy as the USS Battleship Texas and the USS Carrier Lexington are also set to be on the air. For more info , the growing complete listing of ships , event rules , QSL info, suggested frequencys ect. google NJ2BB on the web. Our ships will operate in the radio rooms and use the original longwire antennas. A park station will also operate for those who can no longer board the ships. With up to 4 operating stations we expect 800+ contacts with many museum ships in the log. A VHF net will operate on 146.940 for local contacts . VHF net time not set as of this posting so monitor that repeater. We are keeping our fingers crossed for some ship to ship contacts via space satellites on Saturday as well. We hope you can support the Cavalla Historical Foundation at Galveston's SeaWolf Park and come out to the event. Saturday from mid morning to the mid afternoon seems to be prime time for the event. This is one of the few times the radio rooms are open, manned and operational for public viewing. If you can't make the event and are a HAM operator please fire up the HF rig and make as many museum ship contacts that you can. Our thanks again to the Chief Of Boat / Park Curator John McMichael Master Chief Petty Officer USN ret. , The Cavalla Historical Foundation, and the Galveston Park Board for permission to come aboard.
Hope to CU at SeaWolf Park
